What are Water Pumps?

Water Pumps are used to move water from one place to another, which means that they have a number of applications, including drainage of cellars, sinks or baths, pumping water from water butts and removal of brackish water.  Some water pumps are designed to deal with clean water, while others are specially designed for drainage of dirty water or dense liquids.

How do Water Pumps work?

Many water pumps are submersible with the entire unit being placed in the water. They can be operated with a manual switch or an automatic float switch that will turn the pump on when the switch begins to float.

Other water pumps are surface mounted and use a suction pump to draw water. Some water pumps can also be attached to an electric drill, making use of the power from the drill to pump water and other liquids, such as fertilisers, pesticides, insecticides and organic solvents.

What are the benefits of using Water Pumps?

Water Pumps are ideal for draining standing water or other liquids in a variety of different situations. Many pumps will switch on automatically when the water reaches a certain level, ensuring that the risk of flooding is greatly reduced. By automatically pumping and removing water, it saves the effort of water needing to be moved or removed by hand.

Which Water Pumps are in the First Mats range?

Our range includes a wide range of water pumps, ideal for various different requirements.

Submersible Clean Water Pumps

We offer both manual and automatic clean water submersible pumps. For example, our Automatic Submersible Clean Water Pumps are an ideal choice for draining water from cellars, sinks, cisterns, baths, and for generally transferring water. They come in a range of different outputs from 100L/min to 250L/min, so you can choose the product to best suit your needs. Although they are designed for use with clean water, they will accept particles of up to 5mm.

Submersible Dirty Water Pumps

Alternatively, if you need to pump dirty water, one of our dirty water pumps, such as the Automatic Submersible Dirty Water Cellar Pump, will be ideal. It can drain dirty water or dense liquid with a maximum particle size of 30mm, and you can choose between 133L/min and 217L/min outputs.

Surface Mounted Water Pumps

For dealing with brackish water, our Surface Mounted Brackish Water Pump is the perfect solution. It features a suction pump for drawing water and comes with an easily removable filter, making it easy to use and highly efficient.

A cost effective solution for pumping liquids, including water, organic solvents, fertilisers, pesticides, etc., is the Drill Powered Water Pump. This effective pump simply fits onto an electric drill and can deliver up to 1000L/hr of fluid at 3000rpm.
