Why IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets Matter

Why IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets Matter

IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets are essential for safe storage and spill containment, preventing leaks from Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) from contaminating the environment.

Designed to capture drips and spills, they help businesses comply with UK regulations while maintaining a cleaner and safer workplace.

Available in single and double IBC configurations, these bunds provide secondary containment for hazardous chemicals, oils, and other liquids, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. With removable mesh grids for easy cleaning and forklift compatibility for safe handling, our IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets offer efficient spill control for industrial and commercial applications.

Key Advantages of IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets

Key Advantages of IBC Bunds and Spill Pallets

Using an IBC bund or spill pallet provides critical protection against leaks and spills, ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance.

Our high-strength polyethylene bunds are corrosion-resistant, making them ideal for storing a wide range of chemicals, oils, and hazardous substances. Heavy-duty steel bunds are also available for flammable liquids, providing additional fire resistance.

With a 110% sump capacity, these bunds meet UK spill containment regulations, ensuring any leaks are safely contained within the bunded sump. Forklift-compatible designs allow for easy transportation, while removable grids make maintenance simple.

For outdoor use, our hard-covered bunds protect stored liquids from rain, UV damage, and unauthorised access, ensuring long-term durability and reliability.

How to Choose the Right IBC Bund or Spill Pallet

How to Choose the Right IBC Bund or Spill Pallet

When selecting an IBC Bund or Spill Pallet, consider the following factors:

  • Storage Capacity – Choose between single (1 x 1000L IBC) or double (2 x 1000L IBC) bunds to match your storage needs.
  • Sump Volume – Ensure the bund has 110% of the largest stored container’s capacity to meet UK regulations.
  • Material Type – Polyethylene bunds for chemical resistance, steel bunds for flammable substances.
  • Mobility & Handling – Look for forklift-compatible bunds for easy positioning and safe transportation.
  • Removable Grid Decks – Allows for quick cleaning and maintenance.
  • Outdoor Protection – Consider hard-covered bunds to prevent rainwater contamination and UV exposure.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Ensure the bund meets UK spill containment and oil storage regulations.

  • A double IBC bund is designed to provide combined secondary containment rather than holding 110% of both IBCs together. As a guide, single-unit bunds are typically sized to 110% capacity, while double units are generally around 60% of the total stored volume, as both containers are not expected to fail at the same time.
