Flyball and Dog Agility Competition Matting

Jan 22, 2020 | *3 minutes to readFlyball is a fun and exciting canine sport played by teams of dogs. The object of the game is for the dogs to run along a short track, jump over hurdles, grab a tennis ball, and then run back to their owners. The first team to have all dogs back with their owners wins!
But what has this got to do with floor matting?
In order to create a safe and comfortable environment for the dogs and their handlers, Flyball Matting is used. This matting provides a padded safe surface for the dogs to run on, as well as helping to reduce noise levels.
The matting is used in two places during the event. On the first run, the dogs are sprinting at very high speeds toward a box which will release a tennis ball. Foam flyball matting is often used on these boxes to cushion the impact for the dogs before they turn around and run back down the course to their owners.

In many cases, this foam material is the same type used for Anti-Fatigue floor matting. Its strong and comfortable nature makes it an ideal material for use as flyball matting.
For indoor events, such as those that take place at the annual Crufts show, the benefits of flyball and dog agility competition matting are numerous. This matting provides a safe and comfortable surface for the dogs to run on, as well as reduces noise levels.

One of the most popular types of flyball and dog agility competition matting is ribbed or channelled matting, both for the box and the track. This type of matting provides good traction for the dogs while they're running, which is important for their safety.
